Chapter Meetings & events

Hybrid Chapter Meetings

Our chapter meets on Barracks Row at 7pm the first Monday of October-May, excluding January. We also participate in service and social activities throughout the year. Our Barracks Row meeting location is metro accessible, spacious, and hybrid capable.

Meetings typically last 90 mins and comprise of a business session, an educational program or service activity, and socializing.

Prospective members are always welcome to attend our meetings and events. Message us to learn more about our calendar.

service activities and committee work

Education

We contribute books to Little Free Libraries througout DC.

We participate in neighborhood and watershed clean-ups.

We honor the achievements of local women.

We support improvements within Anacostia Park.

We monitor duck populations on the National Mall with City Wildlife.

We tour local historical sites, national parks, and museums.

We remove invasive species from Rock Creek Park.

We share the histories and cultures of American Indians.

Historic Preservation

We restore historic call boxes on Capitol Hill.

We honor the legacy of distinguished women.

We are stewards of two DC Boundary Stones (NW7 and NW8).

We transcribe records for the DAR and Library of Congress.

We mark the graves of Revolutiary War patriots.

We maintain DCDAR's historic Penny Pines Forest memorial.

We beautify and preserve historic cemeteries.

We preserve the genealogical history of our ancestors.

Patriotism

We send care packages to local military members.

We recognize the achievements of young Naval Sea Cadets.

We maintain the memorials of American combat heroes.

We welcome citizens during naturalization ceremonies.

We participate in Tomb of the Unknown Soldier ceremonies.

We remember veterans during Wreaths Across America.

We celebrate the 4th of July by marching in parades.

We greet Honor Flights.

America250

Our nation is on the eve of celebrarting its 250th anniversary and the DAR is preparing in a grand way! DAR is the first heritage society to formally partner with America250, the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026 led by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission.

Judge Lynn Daughters look forward to supporting new initiatives that honor Patriots who helped to win the American War of Independence, educate the public on American history and good citizenry, and leave lasting impacts on our communities through meaningful service projects.
